Guntur in Andhra Pradesh is the major market for Dry Red Chilies where as much as 400,000 Metric Tonnes of Chilies sold in an average year. Markets in Andhra Pradesh also available in Khammam another cropping center mainly for Teja Chilies, Warrangal a major cropping center for Wonderhot Chilies and Tomato Chilies and in Vijeyawada and Hyderabad also.
The various varieties of dry Red Chilies available in India are Sanam Chilies available mainly in Guntur and adjoining areas and small quantities in Tamil Nadu, Wonderhot Chilies available in Guntur, Warrangal in Andra Pradesh and Nagpur in Maharashtra, Wrinkled Chilies available in Guntur, Badrachalam areas, Teja Chilies mainly from Khammam and Guntur areas, Byadgi Chilies available from Byadgi in Karnataka. Since last two years Guntur area also started successfully cropping Byadgi Chilies.
